doggone interweb
yes. my blog was a mess for the last 24 hours. i had to go to bluhaus (school) to fix it. that is where i am now. i did another painting in the last few days. its huge. and its happy/sad and fun. i will post a picture soon.
our own little america
on saturday the americans hosted thanksgiving. many people showed up, even a few people that work in the IDII offices–and they brought their families which was nice. pretty much all of the 40 students showed up and several professors too. there was lots of food and too much wine. james and i had a bunch of people make ‘hand turkeys’ for decorations. cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie supplies were imported from the states for the occasion. it felt like thanksgiving when the pumpkin pies arrived! i made baked apples and smashed potatoes and salad and breaded tofu and allergy proof/ veggie stuffing. i didnt have all the usual ingredients but it was all very tasty. after the feasting they showed a american film classic, heathers [ 🙂 ]. no board games but food folks and fun were all accounted for.
thanksgiving and the week.
the interweb connection at talponia has been ridiculously slow and nearly nonexistent the last few days. so no posts, just photos which oddly enough post easier than the blogger page loads????
so thanksgiving in italy. hmm not happening. it didnt/doesnt feel like thanksgiving at all. i didnt know i was such a fan of the holiday where millions of turkeys are killed. but alas i got my first dose of homesickies. i miss my family. at james’ grandparents and at danny and cynde’s home; the rivaling thanksgiving celerations, board games were happening when we called. now thats what i am talking about. i want to play. okay that got to me. i know a deck of uno cards are in “the box” that hasnt yet arrived from the states. i miss playing cards with beth and mikey until 3am. and i miss our board game parties.
i did find a pumkin-ish vegetable and on saturday the americans of IDII are cooking a feast for the rest of the institute. kind of strange that its not actually on thanksgiving but the school here doesnt close for an american holiday. in fact everyone had a project due this morning so i didnt even make a mini-thanksgiving dinner like i had planned. no one was around and everyone worked until the building closed at school and then aram, hayat, haiyan, and james came to work here in our apartment. that ended up being really fun. we were all working on art projects like a little arts and crafts studio. it was quite nice.
