the wellmont theatre (in Montclair, NJ!) re-opens as a music venue!
opening night is…………….mmmmmmmmmmmmmbopsters hanson!
i have been excited for a while to check out the line-up for the refurbished wellmont, james and i have seen some movies there over the years. i am sure he would remember which ones, but i havent a clue i was too interested in the seats and the architectural details.
before i get into it further, this guy has answered all your questions and mine, including parking, trains, buses, and more:
here is the line-up so far:
Nov. 1 — Hanson with Dave Barnes & Everybody Else
Nov. 2 — Matisyahu with Flobots and Mishka
Nov. 8 — Bill Maher
Nov. 11 — The Decemberists with Loch Lomond
Nov. 14 — Wolf Parade with Listening Party
Nov. 15 — Martin Sexton with Ryan Montbleau
Nov. 17-18 — Steely Dan
Nov. 19 — Tony Bennett
Nov. 22 — Al Green
Nov. 23 — Brian Wilson
Dec. 4 — B.B. King
Dec. 5 — John Prine with Chip Taylor
Dec. 6 — Get The Led Out
Feb. 13 — Rufus Wainwright
p.s. i was thinking oh HA! i will get tix for steely dan for mary jeys and james and if i have to i will come with them, but for smurf’s sake they are a billion dollars, alright, $85-$135! but for reals
i would just be buying them, and potentially going for smurfs+giggles, and yacht rock.
so no dice steely dan, no dice.
(sorry mary and james)
let me know if anyone is coming out to montclair to see these bands, or just walking over from your lovely home in montclair, and musicsnobbery, whats your deal? i just found your blog today. i am surprised i havent come across it before.
p.s.s i also learned in my research today that montclair is known in some circles as “park slope west” and it is cracking me up!
